Going through the chairhood

I'm a chair.
Not a table.
I didn't even know what a chair should or could do for his/her department.
I only knew it was a funny name for a person
who hadn't paid any attention to any chair
then was dumped with this huge department junk for him/her to chair.
If it's not a joke, tell me what it is.
